Christmas in July Food Drive

Wednesday, July 22

Help us fill our shelves and support our community!

Stop by Super 1 Foods in Post Falls on Wednesday, July 22, anytime between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and pick up a few extra items while you're grocery shopping to support 3rd Avenue Marketplace Food Bank & Senior Café.

This Shine 104.9 / KEEH Christmas in July Food Drive is more than just collecting food—it's a friendly competition between food banks across North Idaho and Eastern Washington. Help us outshine the competition by donating a few of our most-needed food items and showing what our community can accomplish when we come together.

Every donation helps provide food for local families, seniors, and individuals facing food insecurity. While all donations are appreciated, our greatest current needs include pre-packaged frozen meat, canned meats, spaghetti sauce, and beans. Whether you donate one item or a cart full, your generosity makes a real difference.

Can't make it to the food drive? You can still support our mission by making a financial gift. Your donation allows us to purchase fresh meat, dairy, produce, and other essential foods that help keep our shelves stocked and our neighbors nourished.

Let's bring the trophy—and the bragging rights—back home this year while making an even bigger impact for our community. Thank you for helping us fight hunger, one grocery bag at a time! ❤️

Mission

The 3rd Avenue Marketplace works to enrich the lives of Kootenai County residents, through food assistance, nutrition education, and access to community services.

Our Programs

3rd Avenue Market

The Post Falls Food Bank’s 3rd Avenue Market provides an abundance of fresh produce, dairy, and meat products for our guests. In addition to healthy choices at the Market, the Food Bank offers classes on nutrition, eating well on a budget, and healthy food preparation. These classes are provided at no charge to our guests. Recipe cards provided by Eat Smart Idaho can be found in the Food Bank lobby. Pick out a recipe and shop for the ingredients in the Market. What could be easier!

Grocery Rescue Program

Six days a week, the food bank ‘rescues’ food that is nearing its expiration date from community grocery stores. This includes fresh produce, dairy products, bakery and canned goods, meat, and non-food items. The rescued food is then taken back to the food bank, processed, and distributed to our community in need. Through our rescue program, we collect and process over 1.5 million pounds of nutritious food every year. It is through this program that we collect 90% of the food we need for our programs.

Backpack Program

The Food Bank works closely with the Post Falls School District to provide weekend food for 250-300 students. These are children who are living at or below the federal poverty level and are at risk of not getting enough to eat over the weekend. Nutritionally balanced food is identified specifically for this program. The food packs are purchased by the 3rd Avenue Marketplace and assembled by volunteers at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Case Management

Rarely do the guests we serve enter our door with just one need, food. There are usually several challenging situations that our guests are dealing with at any given time. We provide a Case Manager to help our guests navigate the social services network and find the help they need in Kootenai County.

Senior Programs

Wednesdays and Fridays are senior lunch days at the 3rd Avenue Café! Chef Harvey creates beautiful and tasty dishes, which are served to all seniors who call and book their spot ahead of time. During this time, our seniors get to socialize, learn about community

happenings, and sometimes even watch performances by local musicians or students from one of our local schools.

We also have activities each week! Bingo, card games, crafts, and more!

Community Classes

Class are held as desired by our guests.  We have had nutrition classes, cooking classes, finances classes, and more.  Contact us for more information.
